5 signs it's time to see a sports physiotherapist

Most active people learn to live with small aches. But some signals are your body asking for help — and treating them early is almost always faster and cheaper than waiting. Here are five signs it's worth booking an assessment.

1. Pain that lasts more than a few days

Soreness after a hard session is normal. Pain that sticks around beyond three to five days, or that sharpens with activity, points to tissue that isn't recovering on its own and needs a proper look.

2. A niggle that keeps returning

If the same hamstring, knee or shoulder keeps flaring up, the issue usually isn't the painful spot — it's a movement pattern, strength gap or load problem upstream. That's exactly what a sports physio assessment uncovers.

3. Reduced range or stiffness

Struggling to fully bend a knee, raise an arm or rotate your neck limits performance and invites compensation injuries. Hands-on therapy plus targeted exercise restores range safely.

4. Swelling, instability or giving way

A joint that swells, clicks painfully or feels like it might give way should be assessed promptly — these can signal ligament or cartilage involvement that benefits from early, structured rehab.

5. You're returning from a layoff

Coming back after illness, surgery or a long break is when re-injury risk is highest. A graded return-to-sport plan rebuilds strength and confidence in the right order.

The bottom line

You don't need a dramatic injury to benefit from physiotherapy. If any of the above sounds familiar, an assessment will tell you what's going on and exactly what to do about it. Reach out on WhatsApp or call the clinic to book.
